Background History
Whitegate Cemetery is located in Moundsville, West Virginia on Fourth Street. It is probably more than 100
years old and is the final resting place for prisoners from the West Virginia Penitentiary, unclaimed by anyone.
Some of those buried in Whitegate died from electrocution and hanging, but many died of natural causes.
