Investigating some of the "reportedly" most haunted locations in America...

Lizzie Borden House -- Fall River, Ma.

Black Raven Paranormal Feature Investigation -- August 2015

Background History

The Lizzie Borden House located in Fall River, Massachuetts was the scene of the greatest, unsolved
murder cases in American history.   On the morning of August 4th, 1892 Andrew Borden and his wife
Abby were brutally murdered with an axe in their Fall River home.   Suspicion immediately focused on
their 32 year old daughter Lizzie who was eventually charged with the murders.   She would spend ten
months in jail awaiting trial before she was acquitted of all charges.   Despite some circumstantial
evidence that pointed towards Lizzie, the jury took less than 90 minutes to deliberate and reach their
verdict.   There are many theories as to who may have murdered Andrew and Abby and why.   Did
Lizzie murder her father and step mother and if so, why?   Or was it someone else who had an issue
to settle with Mr. Borden?

Notes of Interest

Many believe Lizzie Borden got away with murder and there are circumstances and theories to suggest such.
Financial gain for both Lizzie and her sister Emma who would inherit their father's estate, valued after an
adjustment of inflation to be that of 7 million.   There had been extreme tension in the household for months.
It was no secrect that both Emma and Lizzie did not have close relationships with their stepmother Abby.

Another angle to be explored was Lizzie's odd behavior before and after the murders.   Lizzie had been seen
attempting to buy poisonous prussic acid, ostensibly for cleaning purposes, just before the murders which
made many Suspicious.   Lizzie also admitted to burning a paint-stained dress just days after the murders.
Alice Russell, a friend of Lizzie cautioned her against doing so.   Was it blood on that dress?   Last, Lizzie
displayed many inconsistent answers when questioned by investigators of the day of the murders.

The trial last two weeks and involved many dramatic moments.   The most dramatic occurred when the skulls
of Andrew and Abby were presented as evidence, Lizzie fainted in court, gaining sympathy from the many.
With no hard evidence to present, it took the jury just 90 minutes to declare Lizzie NOT GUILTY.

Hauntings

The house is currently in use as a bed and breakfast/museum and draws many visitors each year.   It also claimed
to be very haunted as well.   Reports of hearing the sound of a woman weeping, footsteps, muffled conversations
in different parts of the house are common.   An apparition of a woman dusting has been seen as well as the imprint
of a human body form on a freshly made bed within minutes of checking into a room.   Doors open and close often
unexplained.   Many mediums pick up on the strong presence of Mr. Borden in the house.

We checked into the house at 4 pm on Friday, August 28th to set up for our investigation of this incredible, historic
location.   Needless to say, we were very excited.   All of us had different theories on the crime, was Lizzie innocent
or guilty?   If she did not commit the murders, who did and why?
